earth pigment, oil on canvas

This painting was created in response to a recently uprooted tree I stumbled across while on a hike one day. Having just gone through a painful transition in my artistic life, it struck me that the tree had also gone through massive change, yet was still teaming with life, helping to support the forest and its inhabitants in a new (no less essential) way. I carefully gathered soil from the tree’s root system, which was now exposed to the air above ground. I used this soil, combined with traditional oil paints, to create a series of paintings inspired by the hardest parts of the journey, and as a reminder that difficult roads lead to beautiful views. Part of the 'Mud Season' series.

This painting was created as part of the "Mud Season" Collection. Inspired by walks in the woods and the hardest parts of the journey, this collection helps me to remember that difficult roads lead to beautiful views.

This painting was created in response to an encounter with an uprooted tree (pictured in product photos above).  Earth pigment oil paint was created from around the root system of this tree, and that color became central to this piece's composition and color palette, as well as the entire 'Mud Season' series. This painting has seen many adventures, and I hope it inspires adventures in your life as well.

Please consider measurements carefully before purchase and take the time to view colors on different monitors, as colors may appear different on different devices. I have done my best to represent all artworks accurately. This piece is painted on gallery wrapped canvas with painted edges, so it is ready to hang and doesn't need to live in a frame.
