“Senescence” refers to the natural breakdown of cells as they age. This process is a natural part of the life cycle and is responsible for the beautiful colors that appear in leaves each fall. The original composition was created entirely using buckthorn ink, and highlights the range of color that can be achieved with natural inks, while also embracing the ephemerality of fugitive natural botanical pigments.
